A Major was supposed to die .. die for the national pride .. die encounter insurgency .. die in war .. or sacrifice for any other social cause. But to make money was a sin .. forbidden to army men. It made a perfect news and people were glued to the T.V sets and read the headlines of the news papers with lots of concern.
“Hello, there?” A gentleman called me. “I am Rajendra … A supreme court lawyer.” He smiled. “Cheer up major.”
“How come … you are here.” It was a surprise to me.
“My wife .. Mala .. made me to pay for my love life.” He smiled.
“He is a mean bastard.” Madhur spoke very loudly.
Rajendra looked in the direction of Madhur. He was smiling.
“Be careful of him major. He is a snake .. a python.” Pappu supported Madhur.
Our eyes met for quiet some time. I saw pain, frustration and a remorse in the eyes of Rajendra. It seemed that he had lost the battle completely.
