Why I Don’t Like Rainy Days Anymore..

Just another rainy day

I no longer feel the happiness which I used to have in my childhood on a rainy day- My friends would come by my house and call me and then we all would dance in the rain and jump on the puddles to splash water on each other were my favorite thing every year. That sweet memory is now locked away inside my head which I can only see but cannot feel as I am no longer a kid. Now when the rain comes, I get very irritated because I have to travel daily by metro to my college and everywhere I can only see dirt and more dirt. The roads are filled with potholes where usually what happens is- A car or any vehicle drive fast by you and splashes the dirty water which is not a very good feeling.  The whole “rainy days are the best” phrase has changed into “rainy days means more traffic, more dirt, more polluted water and more diseases“. Due to the constant dedication towards destroying our planet, we have successfully increased the pollution to another level where the fresh smell of rain is more acidic now.

All these factors make me fall less in love with the rain every year. Has rain has lost that essence? Have we come so far in all the development and in technology that our natural surrounding no longer makes us happy? Is the only way to feel the nature now is to go miles away on another place for few days and then come back to our home feeling trapped inside the pollution chamber again? Maybe we can bring back that memory again, maybe we still haven’t run out of time.

The sound of rain is more melodic than any music, the smell of the first drop of rain brings happiness and the best fragrance ever. Having a cup of coffee or tea with crisp golden-brown pakodas and long conversations with your loved ones is peace in every sense.  Aren’t these memories worth fighting for? If each and every one takes care of their surrounding and vows to save the environment then we can hope for a more beautiful future filled with lovely rainy days. I no longer feel the rain anymore but I am on my way to make that feeling alive again. You don’t have to be a child to enjoy the rain, just throw your umbrella and dance right in the middle of the road in between the traffic hours and watch the crowd as they come and join you in the rain- only they are just running behind you to hit you.
