What to Do During the Coronavirus Outbreak

Life During the Coronavirus Breakout

You all must be familiar with the Coronavirus pandemic by now. It is everywhere, in news, on social media and in our daily conversations. It is affecting many people and each day, we are hearing cases of either recovery of affected people or new people testing positive all around the world. Due to this many public places, school & colleges and workplaces have been closed down and people are staying at home or self quarantined. All of this bring us to the most important things we can do during this outbreak. Here are some things which you can keep in mind:

Personal Hygiene

You are hearing this everywhere so I’ll tell you once more that maintain your personal hygiene even if you’re staying at home. Wash your hands before and after eating food and also after you go outside your house for a little walk. Your personal hygiene can save you and many people. And don’t forget your sanitizer if you are outside the house.

Be Responsible

There are many people who think that “oh what’s the big deal? Just 147 cases so far, already many people die everyday, what’s the big deal?” Well, the big deal is, you might get the coronavirus and survive. But many people especially elders and small children are the most vulnerable ones right now who can die due to this. Yes, people die everyday but this doesn’t mean that we should stop taking precautions. This is not even a valid reason. Be Responsible. You can either stay at home or go outside and spread the virus if you catch it. This is not about you (I am taking about youngsters who might easily survive this), this is about everyone else who have higher chances of not surviving. So stay at home. Avoid unnecessary travel. Practice social distancing. Avoid public places.

Relax

While it is not easy to not panic when everywhere you are hearing the bad news, but it is important to deal with this situation with a calm mind. Panic creates myths and rumors and we all fall in the pit of believing in it. Stay informed. Don’t believe anything easily, only trust the news coming from the right and a valid source. Also, don’t spread anything which you don’t know for sure is true.

Relax. Take a deep breath. Take all the precautions and wait this outbreak out.

Read, Write, Rest and Repeat

It is not easy to stay at home all of a sudden for many days without much to do. If you think about it, you can do so many things at home which will only make you more relaxed and will keep your mental and physical health in check. Spend more quality time with your family. Talk to them, catch up, help them out if they need anything. Learn to cook something, read as many books as you can (if you love to read), play indoor games with your loved ones, exercise, complete your syllabus (if you’re a student), paint, develop a new hobby, write your heart out or clean your room!

There are endless things you can do while staying at home. We often get so busy with our lives that we forget about little things to do in our life which really makes us happy. So catch up on life. Now get up and make sure you do 1 thing daily which brings you and your loved ones closer to happiness.

Eat Healthy

Since there are many myths about what will cure this or not, I am only here to tell you the only thing we know is true right now – Eat healthy food. Drink lots of water. Eat fruits and vegetables. Eat on time and take full rest if you need. Eating and resting on proper time makes our immune system strong. And that will help us fight the virus back. So make sure you don’t make your green veggies left out this time. Take care of your body and mind as much as you can.

Be Kind and Have Some Patience

Another most important thing right now is to be Kind and develop some patience. Due to coronavirus, the global economy has been also been affected majorly. Many people’s work have suddenly stopped. People are struggling and many people are helping right now to fight off this virus. This is not the time to be negative and blame or get mad because this is happening. Everyone is facing this. Everyone are in this together. So be kind to each other. Take care of your people. Be thankful to all the doctors, the nurses and all those people who are making sure that this does not spread more. Be patient. We cannot control the outcome but we can surely control our actions. We can be responsible and just let this time pass.

Since elders and children are more prone to this, make sure you take care of them more each day.

So, these were some of the most basic precautions or things we can do right now apart from causing panic. Wishing everyone good health right now. I am ending this article with a few words by Jawarharlal Nehru which resonates with today’s situation – “Every little thing counts in a crisis”.
